Netra Aashish Shirke

Ward No. 25

BHARATIYA JANATA PARTY (BJP)

Ex. Standing Committee Chairperson, N.M.M.C.
Ex. Corporator, N.M.M.C.

I am Mrs. Netra Aashish Shirke, a former Corporator of Ward No. 91 (Sectors 13, 17, 19, and 21) of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Nerul. For the past two decades, while representing this ward, I have worked as a social worker and successfully completed numerous developmental projects, for which I have received the blessings and support of the citizens.

I am an active member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Science (Biochemistry) and have also completed a Master’s degree in Management Studies (MMS) from Mumbai University. Professionally, my journey has evolved from being a farmer to a woman entrepreneur.

I served as a Corporator of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation for three consecutive terms—from 2005 to 2010, 2010 to 2015, and 2015 to 2020. Additionally, I had the honor of becoming the first woman to serve as the Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation.

During my tenure, I successfully held several key positions, including Chairperson of the Water Supply and Sewerage Committee, Chairperson of the Legal Committee, Chairperson of the B Ward Committee, and Chairperson of the Women and Child Development Committee.

During my three-year tenure as Chairperson of the Navi Mumbai Swachhata Committee, Navi Mumbai was awarded the title of the cleanest city in Maharashtra and ranked third cleanest city in India. I had the privilege of accepting these awards on behalf of the city. Due to my continuous efforts, I have earned recognition from the citizens of my ward as an efficient and experienced public representative, for which I am deeply grateful.

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation is steadily progressing as a Smart City of the 21st century and as one of the most progressive cities in the state. Under the guidance of our respected leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party—Honorable Forest Minister Shri Ganesh Naik Saheb and Dr. Sanjeev Naik Saheb—I have consistently worked to resolve various issues in my ward and across the city. I have always endeavored to live up to the trust they have placed in me. With the blessings of the party and Honorable Shri Ganesh Naik Saheb, I was appointed as the General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Navi Mumbai, which gave me the opportunity to serve the party with dedication.

During my tenure, I have undertaken and completed numerous developmental works in my ward, including road repairs, asphalt and concrete road construction, installation of streetlights, high-mast lighting at major junctions, establishment of public libraries and gyms, construction and pre-monsoon cleaning of drains, improvement of sewage systems, beautification of gardens, installation of play equipment for children, seating arrangements, and jogging tracks in parks. For public safety, two new police chowkies were established in the ward. Recreation centers for senior citizens were developed, and footpaths were repaired. Women’s self-help groups were provided training for small-scale industries, and employment opportunities were created to promote women’s empowerment.

Under cultural initiatives, Haldi-Kumkum programs for women, cultural events for children, and various games and entertainment programs for women were organized on the occasion of Women’s Day. India’s first climbing wall was constructed at Renukacharya Garden, which is now regularly used by over 800 children and athletes for training. During my tenure, a total of six gardens were developed for the citizens. Special emphasis was placed on cleanliness to ensure good public health, as a result of which our ward received the ‘Sant Gadge Baba Swachhata Abhiyan’ award twice at the Thane district level.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, disinfectant spraying was carried out on roads and in housing societies. Masks and medicines were distributed to citizens, and assistance was provided to patients for hospital admissions. Food grains, oxygen cylinders, and Remdesivir injections were made available to those in need. Essential medicines and food supplies were personally delivered to destitute senior citizens at their homes.

All the above responsibilities were carried out with complete honesty and dedication during my 15-year tenure as an elected representative from 2005 to 2020. From 2020 to 2025, in the post-COVID period, I have continued to work closely with Honorable Shri Ganesh Naik Saheb by participating in fortnightly meetings held at the Municipal Corporation to raise and resolve issues related to the ward, ensuring uninterrupted development activities.

I have consistently taken initiative and worked efficiently to address environmental, social, and especially senior citizen-related issues faced by the residents of Navi Mumbai. Currently, I am actively working at various levels for the conservation of mangrove forests, flamingos, golden jackals, and overall biodiversity in Navi Mumbai.

For the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Elections 2026, I wish to contest from Ward No. 25 (earlier Ward Nos. 91, 92, 99, and 100). With the support, trust, and cooperation of all citizens, I assure you that I will continue to work tirelessly for the holistic development of our ward.

I sincerely hope that your valuable vote will once again send me to the Municipal Corporation and grant me the opportunity to represent Ward No. 25. I present this appeal to you with warmth and respect.
